Treasure Hunting

Kyle and I absolutely love everything vintage and antique and we usually hit up as many antique stores we possibly can, we even went to a bunch when we were on our honeymoon.  Yesterday after spending the day with my family (it was my nephew's birthday) we headed over to our local 7-eleven to pick up some redbox movies and of course our traditional Mountain Dew Slurpee.  While driving there we started to notice that there was junk laying in the gutter outside of almost every house for a local garbage pickup the city does.  At first I wasn't so into going through other people's garbage but then I saw these...
These are old kitchen cabinet doors that used to have glass in them but that was all broken out, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them yet but I had some sort of idea in our backyard, Kyle then had this great idea to seize the hinges and make them into outdoor shelves..I guess we will just have to see!
What else did we find? well hubby spotted to top to a trunk that I was willing to look over then he had to great idea for me to do a painting on it and I told him to throw it in the backseat. I also found the odd looking basket thing that I figured could be spruced up and made into something else to hold my yarn or other misc craft materials.

The statement really holds true, one man's junk is another man's treasure...hopefully that doesn't mean I have to dig through people's junk thrown in the gutter just to find what I'm looking for.  I have a couple items like these (like some chairs we found in some random alley) that I really need to start jazzing up and show you how we like to decorate and how old things make the best new things!

As far as ladybug&babybird goes I have been working all weekend on trying to add some things to a great cupcake pattern that I love to use.
I don't know why I love cupcakes so much but I do know that these make the cutest hat and mitten set.  This season I have decided to go with "flavors" the one shown is "Vanilla Vanilla" I just love taking advantage of colors combinations.  If you are interested in maybe purchasing one of these sets all the information you need to know is located at the ladybug&babybird product blog www.ladybugbabybird.blogspot.com
